It was my honour to sponsor Jessica Thomas as a contestant for the 2019 Rose Queen Competition -- an annual tradition of the Rose Festival, in its 58th year.
What an exciting event!
On June 6th, 2019, the young women above came together to perform for the guests of the 58th Welland Rose Festival Coronation Ball. A tradition of the Rose Festival, many a young women have started out as a contestant of this prestigious event throughout the years.
I was pleased to sponsor a young lady by the name of Jessica Thomas, her enthusiasm, energy and professionalism were refreshing. Jessica's presentations were overwhelmingly awesome, having her crowned as 1st Princess in the court of the 2019 Rose Queen, Georgia Major. All seven young women deserve our gratitude and appreciation for stepping up to participate in Welland's longest-running annual festival.
The Rose Queen and her court will appear at various events throughout Welland until the coronation ball in 2020. Today, you may have seen the girls at the Dragonboat Festival at the Flatwater Centre, or tonight at the Welland County Motorcycle Races.
Other events of this year's Welland Rose Festival include:
- Youth Art Exhibition
- Art Exhibition
- Lobsterfest Luau
- Baby Show
- Children's Fishing Derby
- Window Decorating Contest
- Rose Show
- Street Dance
- Downtown Extravaganza (formerly Days in the Park)
- and the Grande Parade (back downtown)
Join me on June 21st from 6pm - 11pm in downtown Welland as I am pleased to be the presenting sponsor of the Rose Festival Street Dance. The event will be MC'd by Brian Salmon of GiantFM, with beverages by Handlebar Hanks and Konzelmann Estate Winery along with food trucks and more...

Hope to see you there - it is a free, fun event for all ages!
... and hopefully they spell my name right at the next event.
